Volunteer
Is there anyone who is interested in being the Summer 2007 Archivist? Newsletter Writer? Parking Lot Greeter? Lost and Found Manager? Email Now! We are interested in all those who wish to volunteer on a "one time only basis" as well as in an on-going role for a session, a summer or for a longer commitment.
Our organization is run almost exclusively by volunteers. Our board members and committee chairs, the people who set the schedule and make the budget, who hire the staff of instructors, who maintain and replace the equipment, design and order t-shirts, organize the race teams and regattas: all are volunteers. The person writing this is a volunteer! We need your involvement at any level: we need board members who can be liaisons with the year-round community, who can help with publicity and communication, who can take on responsibility for some aspect of the running of our organization, and who can help us plan strategically for the future; we need volunteers to help with race committee and race team, special events (the Long Island Picnic and Pirate Day), potlucks and Friday race teas. We could use help with office work, and desperately need someone to take charge of our computer needs, hardware, software and internet.
